Here is an initial comment after having one set on my concrete pad beside my house:
NOTE: The black base mount shown the picture IS made of STEEL ! :( Sits on this foundation frame contacts concrete and water rusts over time! How could they do this? :( Otherwise constructed of aluminum... Arrrggguue! ---- FOLLOWUP after complete installation and test: The unit functions perfectly with no problems! It only took 5 months after purchase to get a complete installation, delay mostly due to the POWER UTILITY taking sooo long to get around to completing the GAS CONNECTION which involved putting in a new meter and pipe to the street since the gas comsumption on this unit exceeded that of the whole house. But it is a real plesure to have finally completed this project. I also added after testing the generator some APC UPS battery backups on things like internet and phone and TIVO boxes so that everything continues to work after a power failure since there is a 40 second power outage BEFORE the GENIE brings the power back up and makes the TRANSFER after it starts and runs a few seconds. Now it it perfect and quiet as can be expected. The 1800 RPM unit I purchased is a lot quieter than the 3600 RPM units also available at LOWER costs. I also purchased the RADIO Control/Monitor unit (about $350) which enables complete control and testing the unit from the easy chair. One can also program/reprogram the weekly 12 minute test run from this remote set also. Great Product. 5 STARS.
