Cheap but good Aug 09, 2010

This product is obviously a no-name brand, so not very high quality. But i have used at least half of these over the past few weeks and they work just fine. I have not seen a major difference between these and a higher priced brand. These do require a little more sanding after the routered edge has been made, but thats no big deal. I like them and deffinately think they were worth the price.

The perfect set for someone like me-a beginner. I read a lot of reviews about routers and bits, and decided on this inexpensive set to start with. I've only used a couple of the bits so far, but they are great!-very accurate and sharp. For the average DIYer, these bits are perfect!

They do not look like real great bits, but they do work. I found that they are not as sharp as some of the ones I have paid $20+ for one bit.

and I use only a handful of bits, mainly the round over. In this set
I have used 5 of the bits so far. I am not really impressed, but I am not really disappointed either. On one of the bits I accidentally laid down the router next to my tape measure after use. The bit was still spinning and caught my tape measure. Put some nice little holes in my tape measure. The bit itself looked like the yellow part on it is going to start to peal away. I expect one can get some good use out of these bits, as I have, but I am skeptical of the longevity of these bits. I suppose I will find out.

According to my husband, this router bit set is absolutely great for the price. I got it on sale. When he saw the sale price and the number of bits, he was very apprehensive as to the quality. However, when they arrived, he was pleasantly surprised. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

I'll start by saying that I am a noob with a router. I purchased my first router on the same order as these bits. I purchased these bits to familiarize myself with the router and didn't want to spend a ton on fancy bits until I knew what I was doing. That being said...
I think these bits are awesome even WHEN you are skilled with a router. I have been using my Dewalt compact router for a couple months now, I'd say a total of 10-12 hours of continuous use, and these bits have performed very well by my standards (which happen to be very high.) I've had to sand almost nothing after routing. Most of my routing has been on white pine trim pieces, but have also used this router to route acoustical ceiling tiles on the edges to match factory tapered edges. The combination bevel bit included in this set works wonders for this purpose.
I deducted one star because the pilot bearing fall off seemingly too often. I added some Loctite to the ones with that I intend to keep a permanent pilot bearing on, but the others seem to fall off at least once per use. Overall I think this is a great beginner-intermediate set, especially for the price. Includes a great assortment of bits, some of which I may never actually use because I'm not really a fan of busy-looking edges on my shelves and trim, but at least they are there if I change my mind.
Recommend.
