1deception  Nov 28, 2008 By Charles Cook
First off, even if you could roll the hose perfectly tight like the picture, the handle sits just above the drum radius, you might get another 50 ft of hose but I wouldn't count on it. Of course, it's made in china, so are the directions, you need pay attn to pix, it comes with hose randomly wadded around reel, and the fittings, I cannot fathom why they put them in and not tighten them, check, doubecheck and recheck everything. If they sold it for $40, maybe, otherwise, look at another product.

4Just out of the box  Jun 25, 2006 By D. E. Shultz
When I opened the box I found the 3/8 Fasteners for the leg and handle assembly loose. There were several chips in the paint of the reel from the fasteners. During Assembly of the legs and handle I found the capscrews were too short. I was unable to start the nut. I resolved the problem by going to the local Box Store and purchasing longer 3/8 capscrews. I was pleased to finally find the rating for the hose and reel. Max working pressure is 350 PSI. The Hose burst pressure is 1400 PSI. No where in the product description or specifications can these numbers be found. I ordered this Assembly hoping these ratings were Ok for my application. Other than the short capscrews and a few chips in the paint, I am pleased with this unit. I like the portability. It is a well constructed heavy duty unit.

3Difficult to Install  Jul 14, 2008 By Electronics "Sparty"
This was a good value, but be ready for some difficulty. The unit is not engineered really well. Poor clearances for assembling the mounting bracket. The bolts don't have good clearances to keep a wrench the the back side to keep from spinning. Customers that purchase probably have good mechanical abilities as they have a substantial compressor. The big plus is that it does not leak air from the slip joint and that is what counts. I would still buy it again.

5I think it's a good product for a good price.  Aug 31, 2007 By J. Stephenson
I was looking for a well-built, portable air hose reel that I could use in the garage or carry with me. I found it. This is well built. There were a few minor assembly problems, but no big deal. You can't just sit it on the floor and expect it to sit there while you reel off more hose. It isn't heavy enough to do that with it, but if it was you couldn't carry it with one hand.

The only thing I can't do with it is add more hose. I had hoped I could put another 50' on the reel. While it has the capacity to do that, you couldn't feed the connector through the opening. Compare the price here to the one at Sears. Same thing, lower price.

3Needs work and TLC before use, terrible product support  Jan 17, 2007 By D. Hsia
There were several things which needed improvement:
1. All accessories (nuts, bolts, fittings, etc) were scattered loose in the box. There was a small zip lock bag that was supposed to contain the parts. However, the bottom of bag was open.
2. Carrying handle (to be assembled by the end user) was not wrapped by any kind of protective wrapping. It was placed on the bottom of the box and came in hard contact with one of the unit's legs. Consequently, some of the paint was scratched off the handle.
3. The carrying handle also had a light layer of rust powder on it.
4. The way the unit is packaged in the box, the hose layering guide is situated up against one of the edges of the box. The box that my unit was in either experienced rough handling or had some heavy objects placed on top, thus cracking the plastic hose layering guide and bending the steel rod that the guide slides on.
5. Six bolts were supplied with the unit. All were of the same length (1"). They worked ok for the legs but were too short for the carrying handle. Only about a little over one thread was exposed and the nut could not be started. I used my own 3/8" 1-1/2" bolts to install the carrying handle.
6. The female threads where the male swivel connection is supposed to go into was dirty. There was some oily, dirty substance inside as well as a small amount of copper colored metal shaving. Must inspect this area and take care to clean this out so it does not get into the tools.

Instead of processing the return and exchange of the unit, I called Legacy Mfr directly and explain my situation regarding the broken parts. I indicated that I was willing to change out the bent rod and the hose layering guide myself if they would just send me the replacement parts.

Here is where the customer service nightmare began...

It took over a month and a few follow-up phone calls before the replacement parts were sent out. The new hose layering guide was also cracked. I called Legacy back to request a replacement part and also sent digital pictures of the cracks in the replacement part. Again, it was like pulling teeth go get the second part sent out...many emails and phone calls to beg for the part to be sent out. When the part finally arrived, guess what? Yep, the replacement hose layering guide was again cracked. The cracks in the replacement parts were not due to impact, rather, I believe they were caused by incorrect plastic material used. The cracks all started at the holes of the two screws that held two halves together. The material was just too hard and when the screws were tightenen, the plastic simply cracks.

I again emailed the digital photos of the crack back to the manufacture and requested for another replacement part to be sent out. This time, Legacy did not come through. They responded a couple times to my email follow-up and kept saying the part is on its way but never sent anything out. My guess is either they don't feel the product support is important or ALL of the layering guides in their factory are cracked due to incorrect material specification and they saw no point of sending another bad piece out.

I am officially giving up on this and will stop following up with the replacement part. I just want to let the other potential customers know that although this is an ok design, the manufacturing quality and customer support is terrible should you experience any issues with the part you get.
