Cadillac of pinners Mar 06, 2007
By J. Paul Paris

I bought this unit at a recent woodworking show. I wasn't really looking for a new pinner, but I came across this one while looking at a Grex sander. After being allowed to drive pins, I was very impressed. The P630 drove a 1 3/16 pin into pieces of maple, ash, oak, and alder without a whimper and without any noticeable deflection or dimpling. The surface was unmarred, even while I was not using the rubber tip. I have owned, and loved, Senco brand pinners in the past. I have not been happy with their failures in the field and apparent faults during regular use. I bought the Grex immediately even though the price was more than I wanted to spend.
Now that I have had this one for two weeks, and have driven over 1000 pins, I would recommend this unit to anyone who asks. Again, no deflection during pinning, and no marring of the surface being pinned. That is truly nice.
This unit will certainly exceed your expectations.

Excellent Product Jul 24, 2007

Our firm focuses on high end millwork installations and this gun measures up very well to the competition. It seems to set the nails better than the senco and porter cable models. The only issue we have is that there are no local suppliers for the fasteners, and the other manufacturers 23ga pins do not seem to work properly in the grex guns.
