3Portagen Gen. (5500watt)  Dec 18, 2010 By Veda J. Slayton
I bought this Item from Amazon.com for my B/F. He wrote the review also.

I received the Gen. in record time. I had to meet the delivery truck as I live on a mtn. with rough rds. I got it home unpacked it & checked it & got it ready to start. Batt. was dead. Oil that was packed with it was forty wt. Book called for 10-30.(So much for their quality control) I found that out after I had filled it with what come with it. It was cold here (in the 20s)so oil was like cold honey going in. i heated it while charging the batt. After an hour at 6amps I tried to start it. Engine turned over well enough but failed to fire. I never got it started till the next day after leaving on a 2amp charge overnight & all the next day. The temp. had warmed up in the 30s by then also. If you buy this Gen. check to be sure you use the right oil. & I hope you don't have to deal with it in any colder than freezing temps. I'll write more after I've used the gen. some. I'm going to change the 40 wt. oil out to 10-30 soon.
