1Does Not Stand The Test Of Time  Dec 16, 2009 By Bennett McDowell, TradersCoach.com
I have bought 6 of these back in 2008 for my use in my home and as of today only 3 remain working. The others stopped working because the fingerprint sensor degraded over time and now needs to be replaced, but of course the 1 year warranty has expired.

Also the programming is a somewhat convoluted in that the steps require a pressing of keys in a certain sequence that are easily subject to producing errors rather than convenience.

So the idea is great and it did work well for about year but the fingerprint sensor is not durable so the lock is basically useless after a year. Way too much money for a product that has a 50% chance of failing after a year!

4touchless entry lock  Nov 16, 2008 By Chris Madison "keep smiling"
love the lock - no more keys for our household.
The only problem we have that it sometimes does not recognize our fingerprints immediately; but that could be due to many different reasons. It's cold outside and the print has changed slightly or the finger is not placed correctly on the light. Our family had all our fingers scanned, so if one finger doesn't work there many more to go....
But 9 out of 10 times we have no problem.
When you first start scanning your fingers, you can do all of them at one time (just wait for the green light to recognize each print). The instructions do not tell you that and we first put the code in for each finger separate. The only time you cannot do it is when you put the extra code in for a temporary fingerprint, so you can erase it individually. So, if you want to take more than one fingerprint for a maintenance person for example - you have to put in the code for each fingerprint individually.
We love our new lock; especially when we leave town and somebody is checking our house for us; we know the person cannot give the key to somebody else.
The lock is very heavy and very solid, excellent quality for the price.
I really don't understand the problems the other users had. We had many compliments and some people thought it was an alarm system - hey, that's fine with me.

4Great product, could have faster recognition time  Oct 23, 2007 By G. Rivera
I bought two of this products, one left sided and the other right sided. In general I am very happy with both of them. One of them, the right side one, has better recognition. I have 7 persons using them and they are working fine. In the right sided one, some times you get 1 or 2 misses but 70% of the time you get in on the first try. On the left sided one I have to try 2 or 3 times on 70% of the times. I don't know why this difference. Even so, this is far better than giving keys to 7 persons for 2 doors with the added cost of changing the lock if one quits or looses its key.

4Works well, but could be better  Jan 17, 2009 By Jan Klier
We've used this product for a few months now. I would say it works better than I expected, as I was somewhat skeptical, but there are things that irritate.

The installation was pretty straight forwrard and the instructions suitable. Replaced existing door lock in about 20 minutes, with a screw driver being the only extra tool required. Another 10 minutes for programming it for everyone in the family. After installation I ran some tests and it recognized the trained finger consistently, and rejected untrained fingers.

Here are the things that could be better:

- The user interface for programming is pretty cumbersome. Granted you only do it every once in a blue moon, but still. In today's world a USB port and small PC app would actually be a much cheaper way of providing a good user interface.
- At times the unit thinks quite long before making a decision. If I hold my trained finger just right, I get a response in 1-2 seconds. But if I'm off, it can stay up to 15 before giving up. So now, if I don't succeed I just reset it (which means sliding the cover down/up) and try again.
- It would be nice to have a knob on the inside to tell it to stay in the unlocked position. This lock is always locked. After successful validation it will unlock for a short period and then fall back. So a quick trip to the garage to grab something means validation. On the flip-side, you never have to check whether the door was locked when you leave.
- The reader seems a bit sensitive to moisture. I can improve my validation rate significantly if I moisten my finger slightly.
- It wasn't totally obvious at first look that the lock actually has a keyed lock as well. The lock part is covered by a magnetic plate. That plate can only be removed using another magnet. No way to remove it with fingers only. That feature can be helpful if this is your only door to the house and the battery is empty (if you happen to have the key and magnet with you).

So in summary, it's not as convenient as a standard key lock, and I wouldn't replace it for security reasons or convenience reasons. However, if you have kids who have to come home after school, it can be a great solution. They don't have to take a key, no risk of kids losing the key, plus they think it's cool.

If you have a unique need where a standard key lock is problematic, this is a viable solution, and that makes putting up with the quirks worth it. Otherwise, stay with the old and proven low tech solution.

5Love it.  Aug 25, 2008 By Rhonda
The iTouchless Bio-Matic Fingerprint Door Lock works great. It makes getting in the house with an armload of stuff alot easier. I can also allow others to get in temporary without having to get a key back from them, I just take their fingerprint out when I don't want them to have access anymore.
